Locomotive Park is one of the first things you see upon entering Lewiston and serves as a nice welcome. This iconic park is idyllic during the holidays with the lighted trees and animated figures that make up the magic of Christmas Spirit. But it also holds a ton of area history in its centerpiece. The steam-powered locomotive, known as Engine 92, was the last logging locomotive used by Potlatch Forest Industries, now PotlatchDeltic Corporation. Built in 1924, it was purchased by the logging company in 1942. The City of Lewiston purchased Engine 92 after it was retired for $1 and built Locomotive Park. Of course, now Christmas Spirit brings more people to the park than the old engine does. But kids still love to ring its bell.
