Category: Wineries

Our area is considered part of the new frontier of wine-growing areas in the United States. But, we actualy have a long wine history. Grapes were introduced into the Clearwater Valley by 1872 and thanks to the pioneering efforts of two Frenchmen, Louis Desol and Robert Schleicher, and one German immigrant, Jacob Schaefer, the region rapidly became known for its wines. Schleicher was most successful, taking a number of awards for his wines.

Now, local wineries are winning their own awards for varietals made from local and regional grapes. Taste for yourself and take some home to share with friends and family.
